A Canadian-born fine art photographer, Robert
has made Los Angeles his home since attending the prestigious Art
Center College of Design in Pasadena for Photography in 1980. After
graduating, Robert initially made his career in advertising photography,
working with many agencies throughout the United States. During this
period he never lost his love for the great outdoors and any place
wild.
Eventually, his attraction of natural surroundings made its way
back to the surface and has now become Robert’s primary focus,
taking him back to his roots in Black & White imagery.
Robert’s use of natural light is accentuated in the dramatic
landscapes he photographs. Seizing the perfect moment, he allows
the available light to reveal the dramatic as well as the subtle
in all of his subject matter. Combined with a striking understanding
of composition, each photograph is truly a work of art.
"What will generally grab my attention is something old and
forgotten: an abandoned log cabin, wagon wheels, or windmills.
These relics have their story to tell, but sadly, many are disappearing
forever. I'm also fascinated by textures and shapes: those made
by nature through wind and water, or those made by man."
Robert now works exclusively in digital photography,
from capture to print. In his digital darkroom he produces breathtaking
Black & White prints using acid free archival inkjet papers
and archival inks that equal the standards and longevity of traditional
prints.
